Like the weather the IT market is heating up

The confidence in Scotland’s IT sector has continued from January with investment now being heavily focused on sales and software development efforts in particular. To combat their multiple requirements a number of companies are now entering into an ‘always recruiting’ state with many looking to be notified once a suitable candidate re-enters the market.

Demand for permanent staff grows at the quickest pace in 7 months

It seems the atrocious weather seen in December did little to dampen the spirits of Scotland's IT market. with quarter 4 notorious for being the quietest of the four the market continued to improve as the total number of permanent Scottish IT vacancies advertised grew by 2.2%.

Bankings big guns boost Scotland’s IT market recovery

So officially we’re out of the recession. However whilst the UK’s unemployment rate fell during the last 3 months it was reported that the number of those unemployed in Scotland actually grew by 9,000. It’s not all doom and gloom though as the number of Scottish based permanent IT jobs advertised increased.

Latest figures indicate the race is now on in Scotland’s IT sector for 2010  

Has the recession now bottomed out? Well accordingly to the latest figures we finally have reason to believe so, with the rate at which IT vacancies decreased at the end of 2009 improving to the most positive seen in the past 18 months. And this occurred in what is traditionally looked upon as the lowest performing period of the year.

With the huge amount of layoff’s and cutback’s seen in the past 18 months it would be difficult to overlook the current economy’s poor state of health. Unfortunately in quarter two we seen this trend furthered (although at a slower pace) as a number of organisations continued to make further redundancies and job cuts in Scotland.
